Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways) said on Telegram that several suburban trains near Kiev and in the northeastern city of Chernihiv had to be canceled as a result of the strikes.Emergency services reported fire and damage to the train station and depot, but no further details were provided. Authorities also noted that infrastructure in the Chernihiv region was targeted in the attack.The Ukrainian military said Russia launched 653 drones and 51 missiles overnight, adding that its air defenses intercepted 585 drones and 30 missiles, as quoted by Reuters.Ukraine’s Ministry for the Development of Communities and Territories said electricity and heating installations in the Chernihiv, Zaporizhia, Lviv and Dnipropetrovsk regions were hit by the barrage.In the southern Odesa region, about 9,500 consumers were without heating and 34,000 without water supply, the ministry said on Telegram.“Port facilities (in Odesa) have also been attacked: part of the infrastructure has been disabled and operators have switched to backup power from generators,” the ministry said, as quoted by Reuters.Russia has stepped up attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and transport network in recent weeks, repeatedly hitting power stations and key railway junctions.Earlier this year, a Russian attack on a passenger train in Ukraine’s northern Sumy region injured at least 30 people, including passengers.
