‘Wait for it’: Netanyahu warns Australia, other countries for recognizing the Palestinian state

The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has issued a warning after Australia has been disconnected at Canada and the United Kingdom to announce that it had formally recognized the “independent and sovereign state of Palestine”.
Australia’s statement was made by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Foreign Minister Penny Wong outside the United Nations in New York City, where Albanian will give his first speech to the general meeting as part of the top of the leaders’ Week at a high level.

“Australia acknowledges the legitimate and long -kept ambitions of the people of Palestine to its own state,” said Albanian and Wong in a joint explanation.

‘There will be no Palestinian state’

The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the decision was “rewarding terrorism” and promised to respond.
“We have doubled the Jewish settlement in Judea and Samaria – and we will continue with this path,” he said, with the help of the Biblical term for the West Bank.
“A Palestinian state will not be established west of the Jordan River. For years I have prevented the establishment of this terrorist state, despite enormous pressure in both the interior and internationally.

“The answer to the last attempt to impose a terrorist state in the heart of our country will be given after my return from the United States. Wait for it.”

The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that political gestures “aimed at a domestic voting public” would “harm” the middle -east.
“Israel will not accept freestanding and imaginary text that tries to accept the indefinable boundaries,” said Marmorstein spokesperson.
Asked for the Israeli response, Albanese said that settlements were one of the reasons that gave the world to act on recognition.

“We have seen a constant expansion of settlements on the West Bank. We have Israeli ministers who completely reject Palestinians, have a future home country. And we have seen just as well as the humanitarian catastrophe who unfolds in Gaza,” he said.

“We go back to the resolution that was supported by Parliament with the support of all government parties after 7 October, which called for the protection of the innocent life that requires implementation, of course, and compliance with international law,” said Albanian.

“And we remain strong proponents. And what happened is that the world says that enough is enough. The cycle of violence must end.”
The Palestinian ambassador of the UN, Riyad Mansour, said that recognition had the potential to open a political horizon and to promote a two -state solution.

“Give peace a chance. Stop this madness. Stop this genocide, lets peace prevail. Save the life of Palestinians and Israelis,” he said.

“Save the life of the hostages and prisoners. Peace is much nicer than war. Murder is not good, and I believe that the Israeli people will also achieve the opportunity. Enough is enough. Two years of trying to eradicate the Palestinian people and you didn’t succeed,” Mansour said.

‘False hope’ for Palestinians

The decision breaks with decades of dichotomy between the two major political parties of Australia.
Opposition leader Sussan Ley and spokesperson for the Foreign Affairs of the opposition, Michaelia Cash, made a joint statement that warned that the government admitted “extortion” by Hamas, and this was a “hollow gesture” that Palestinians gave “false hope”.
The opposition insists that recognition should be at the end of a peace process, not during the conflict.
“Palestine has no established limits and no effective government,” said it in a statement.

“The uncomfortable truth for the Albanian government is that this recognition comes while hostages remain in tunnels under Gaza and while the Gaza Strip and the Palestinian people remain under the control of the aforementioned terrorist organization Hamas.”

At the same time, the government has expressed confidence in the direction of an internationally supported peace plan that would support the reconstruction of the efforts in Gaza and at the same time guarantee the safety of Israel.
They include constant public recognition of the right to exist of Israel, democratic elections and changes in financial operations, as well as the management and within the education system.
“Terrorist organization Hamas should not play a role in Palestine,” said the government declaration.

“Further steps, including the establishment of diplomatic relations and opening of embassies, will be considered as the Palestinian authority making progress in its obligations for reform.”

Recognition has already been signed by the Australian cabinet and requires no ratification in parliament or a UN voice to take effect. It is now the official government policy.
The step to acknowledge the state is in line with France, as well as in the UK and Canada, but it sets Australia at odds with its nearest security fellow, the US.
Albanese should not meet US President Donald Trump personally, and although no meeting is locked up, both leaders will be in New York for this week’s international conversations.
