Do you want to attack like the best players in the world? Then you have one Professional approach.
Most players make small but expensive mistakes that prevent them from jumping higher and getting harder. I played at 3 world championships and I have never seen a pro player who made approach errors. But in daily volleyball I always see the same mistakes.
Here are the 3 most common mistakes Stopping those players – and how you can repair them so that you can attack as a professional.
Whole-to-one step (penultimate step)
One of the biggest mistakes that players make is The right foot in the ground stamping.
❌ Stemp pins from Humptum, transport energy and rucks your Jump.
❌ Aim the right foot to the sidelines, turns your body and locks up only to attack the line.
❌ And the worst mistake? Right foot ends for the left when taking off. Almost no pro does this it will block your long-term progress.
✅ The solution: Plant your right foot heel to toetoes in the long diagonal of the court. This transmits your start-up speed in vertical power and keeps your movement flexible for a pro-level jump.
👉 Fast promo: Do you really want to control the approach? In mine Next-Gen Hitter programI will not only teach you the perfect approach, but also the entire swing technique and how you can make attacks on a professional level.
The arm swing – “The load”
Your arm load states both your vertical and your peak power.
❌ Error 1: cross your arms for your body. No top player does this – it kills rhythm.
❌ Error 2: Curved arms and stiff wrists. If you load bent, you will be bent – and bent arms = weak hits.
❌ error 3: swinging arms first up and then back. It slows you and adds unnecessary movement.
❌ And please – don’t rotate your arms back as a “athletic ABC.” That is not an approach – it is a guarantee that you will never hit as a professional.
✅ Instead: Elite players keep their arms loose, long and dynamic. Their wrists are relaxed, their swing is large, fast and smooth. Train this full-range, powerful charge and you will immediately feel the difference in your battle.
The long penultimate step
The last big detail is it Long penultimate step.
❌ Many players ruin their rhythm with short, turbulent steps for taking off. That kills timing and makes it impossible to get in touch with the set.
✅ The solution: record One explosive, long penultimate step With your right foot, heel-to-toe lands. This creates rhythm, speed and strength.
💡 Try this exercise: Place a low step box or object on the floor. Plant your left foot for it and then take a long penultimate step with your right foot over the object. This trains your body for a real approach at pro-level.
🔥 If you only solve these three details –
✔ Heal-to-one step
✔ Relaxed, dynamic arm load
✔ Long penultimate step
– You are already walking for 90% of the players. The approach is the basis of every big peak. Control it, and you jump higher, get harder and look like a professional.
