Despite what the technicians of your local drive-up oil change store try to sell you, replacing the cabin filter of a car is usually a very simple task. The cabin air filters of most cars are deep in the glove box or easily accessible under the hood, but sometimes automakers decide to solve it somewhere. Unfortunately, the latter applies to Volkswagen’s Ultra-Cool as slowly sold ID-Buzz, which for some reason practically requires a dismantling of the entire front of the car to replace the cabin air filter.

I liked to control the ID -Buzz when I lived for a week, but now that I learned how absurdly difficult Volkswagen it has made to replace a simple part that requires relatively frequent replacement, I have mixed feelings. When car manufacturers do things like this, it forces most owners to take their vehicle to a service center to have a simple filter replacement carried out, for which they of course have to pay more than they should. Come on, Volkswagen, the ID -Buzz is already expensive enough!

This is ridiculous

In this Tiktok, a technician documents the long process of exchanging the cabinelucht filter on a buzz of 2024 ID. First you must specify the comic front of the buzz, disconnect an electrical connector, disconnect the wiper fluid reservoir, disconnect one of the cables, Ans screw two bolts against the shot. Then you have to open the front doors to separate an upper trim from the side of the buzz before you screamed a bolt that confirms another panel over the front cover flap and repeat that process on the other side of the buzz. Once that has happened, lift that upper trim from the front of the vehicle and stop another connector before you release a fabric flap that covers the cabin air filter housing. You can then finally remove the panel that hides the air filter and replace it with a new one. When you’re done, you must of course replace all the decorative pieces that you have just removed, all electrical connections reconnected, re -connect the wiper fluid reservoir and close the Kapflap. It is that simple!

It is clear that I am sarcastic. This process is furiously over -stuck and it leaves huge margins for errors, whether it is the misplaced of bolts, scratching outdoor panels or reconnecting things that are connected incorrectly. I understand that the ID -Buzz has been formed differently than all other cars on the market, but I do not see a feasible justification for such a complicated approach to locating the cabin air filter. One thing is certain: it will keep the service district departments of Volkswagen dealer in the business world.
