Nasdaq-listed company VivoPower (VVPR) is expanding its digital asset treasury strategy tied to Ripple’s XRP token through a joint venture aimed at acquiring hundreds of millions of dollars in cryptocurrency.
The company said its digital assets unit, Vivo Federation, has partnered with Lean Ventures, an asset management firm based in South Korea, to acquire $300 million in shares of Ripple Labs.
At current XRP prices, the company estimates that the stake would represent approximately 450 million tokens, worth approximately $900 million.
VivoPower will not purchase XRP directly
The deal means VivoPower will not purchase XRP tokens directly. Instead, Lean Ventures wants to create an investment vehicle focused on holding shares in Ripple Labs that come from Vivo Federation.
This move will see the companies target both institutional and qualified retail investors in South Korea, one of XRP’s largest markets globally, and give them indirect exposure to the token.

VivoPower has shared that it has received approval from Ripple Labs to purchase an initial tranche of the company’s preferred shares. It added that it is also in the process of negotiating more purchases from the company’s existing institutional shareholders.
Additional details about the transactions were not disclosed for legal reasons.
VivoPower was one of the first XRP Treasury companies
VivoPower’s agreement with Lean Ventures builds on VivoPower’s recent transition into an XRP-focused treasury company.
Earlier this year, the company raised $121 million in a private placement led by Saudi investor Abdulaziz bin Turki Abdulaziz Al Saud. This positioned VivoPower as one of the first publicly traded companies to build a treasury strategy around XRP, unlike crypto market leaders Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH).
VivoPower has since leveraged its XRP into return-generating strategies. This includes a $100 million allocation through Flare’s FAssets system. The company has also adopted Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin for its treasury operations.

VivoPower’s creation of an XRP treasury came amid a stock price struggle for the company. Data from Google Finance shows that the company’s share price has fallen more than 44% in the past six months.
The stock has seen a recovery over the past month and week, recovering more than 9% and 8% respectively. But in the past day the price fell by more than 11%.
VivoPower Move Fails to Ignite XRP Rally
Despite VivoPower doubling XRP, the crypto’s price has continued to languish.
In the past week, the value of the token has fallen by more than 7%, according to to CoinMarketCap. This was after a drop of more than 3% in the past 24 hours, sending the altcoin’s price down to $1.84 as of 4:36 a.m. EST.

From a technical perspective, XRP recently lost the USD 1.8520 support level. Furthermore, indicators such as the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) and the Relative Strength Index (RSI) warn that bears could push the price of XRP down to $1.5815 in the near term.
The MACD line breaks below the MACD signal line, which is a classic indication of strengthening seller momentum. Meanwhile, the RSI line drops below the Simple Moving Average (SMA) line. Traders may interpret this as a sign that sellers are starting to overpower buyers.
A daily close above the $1.8520 support today could negate the bearish thesis. In this alternative, more bullish scenario, XRP could eventually recover and rise to $2.2220.
