It was the first instance in the history of Test cricket of India being whitewashed at home in a Test series. India also looked miserable in the ongoing Test series against South Africa.

They lost the first Test match at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, and in the ongoing match in Guwahati, they are on the verge of a humiliating defeat.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli’s elder brother Vikas Kohli is angry seeing India’s struggles as he went to Threads to take an indirect dig at Gautam Gambhir.

“There was a time when we played to win even in overseas conditions. Now we play to save the match even in India. This is what happens when you try to be the boss and unnecessarily change things that weren’t broken,” Vikas Kohli wrote.

Vikas Kohli unravels India’s ‘poor’ testing strategy

Virat Kohli’s brother in another thread compared the strategy of India and South Africa. He highlighted how India have increased their confidence in all-rounders while the Proteas are still dependent on the specialists, which is the reason behind their success. He stated:

“So let’s break it down: Team India strategy: Remove senior, experienced players. Remove right 3/4/5 batmen. Play bowler at No. 3.

“Use all all-rounders… SOUTH AFRICA STRATEGY: Play the right test match team: specialist openers. Specialist not 3/4/5/6 batters. Specialist spinners. Specialist fast bowlers and maybe 1 all-rounder. Although I really want the team to win. India must win but questions need to be asked now… WHO IS RESPONSIBLE???.”

What we want to see now is a real fight back: Parthiv Patel

In an interaction on JioHotstar, former wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel said that India needed 522 runs to win with 8 wickets in hand. He said India will have to show an unreal fight on a rotating track to save the match. He said:

“What we want to see now is a real fightback and some determination from the Indian batsmen. The need to play a little more towards the body line, to defend well – those are exactly the things you want to see, and they are expected at this stage.”

“Yes, no doubt the ball spins, and it bounces too, but not as much as in Calcutta. If you show a little more technique on this pitch, you can survive and play well.”
