Vinicius Oliveira took a step forward in the competition on Saturday and things did not go as planned for the Brazilian prospect.Oliveira was outclassed in the main event of UFC Vegas 113 when he fell to Mario Bautista via second-round submission at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. That snapped a four-fight promotional winning streak for “LokDog,” who earned the opportunity to enter the upper echelon of the bantamweight division with a victory over the battle-tested Bautista.
In the aftermath of his first UFC defeat, Oliveira revealed that he had suffered multiple injuries leading up to the fight.“Well, earthlings, things went wrong again,” Oliveira wrote on Instagram. “I lost count how many times I lost in my life, but every time I got up and continued. I’m sad for my team and for everyone who cheered for me, but anyway, no sad stories, let’s move on to another journey. I did the impossible, I dropped back under 84 kg, I had three injuries during this fight camp: a rotator cuff injury, a meniscus injury and also a fracture in my arm, but I’m still the best, terror has a name!
In a separate interview with Ag.VechtOliveira elaborated on the fracture in his arm, which apparently hampered his performance in the Octagon on Saturday.“I could have canceled the fight,” said Oliveira (translation via

Limited on Fight Night
Bautista knocked Oliveira to the ground in the first round, and if it seemed like the Brazilian wasn’t putting much effort into getting back on his feet, there was a reason for that.“I got knocked down and couldn’t use the shield to get back up because that’s exactly where it hurt,” he added. “I tried, but it hurt too much. I said in between that it hurt. We continued with the pain, but it was really bad. I started throwing punches, but just the movement of the punching air hurt a lot.”
Oliveira revealed that he was given a 180-day medical suspension by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. He added that he struggled with his weight loss due to the injury problems.
“It was the worst weight cut of my career because I couldn’t train properly, and that made it harder to lose weight,” Oliveira said. “I had to exercise moderately. I couldn’t do cardio because every movement of my arm hurt.”
