Vikram Solar, one of India’s leading solar panel manufacturers, on Wednesday announced the commissioning of its 5 GW advanced module manufacturing facility at Vallam in Tamil Nadu.

With this expansion, the Kolkata-based company now has a total production capacity of 9.5 GW, strengthening its role as a leading, scale-driven player in solar technology and underscoring its growing influence in shaping India’s solar future.

“Designed as a future-proof, large-scale manufacturing hub, the Vallam plant represents a major technological leap for India’s clean energy ecosystem. It includes an advanced layer of next-generation automation, much of which is being deployed for the first time in the country, seamlessly integrating intelligent robotics, advanced material handling systems, extensive built-in quality controls and fully automated packaging,” the company said in a stock exchange listing.

According to the company, this increased automation architecture improves production precision, accelerates throughput, strengthens process reliability and sets a new benchmark for operational excellence.

The Vallam factory is built on advanced TOPCon technology, designed for seamless HJT upgrades and designed to support M10, G12 and G12R sizes, underscoring Vikram Solar’s commitment to future-proof technology leadership, the company said.

“The commissioning of Vallam reinforces Vikram Solar’s commitment to growing the clean energy production ecosystem in Tamil Nadu. It adds to its existing presence in Oragadam and follows the recent foundation ceremony of their upcoming factory in Gangaikondan, which marks another major milestone in the state. Together, these sites demonstrate Vikram Solar’s long-term strategy to anchor advanced solar energy manufacturing and green technology innovation in Tamil Nadu, one of India’s fastest growing renewable energy hubs,” it said company in the scholarship application.

Gyanesh Chaudhary, Chairman and Managing Director of Vikram Solar, said: “Vallam is a decisive milestone for Vikram Solar and for Indian solar manufacturing. Commissioning this 5 GW facility within the year was a bold promise, and delivering on it signals that we are ready for the scale, speed and innovation that the next decade will demand.”

With the company having been in the industry for over two decades, this facility reflects its intent to shape what comes next: advanced manufacturing, automation-led quality and technology platforms that will set new benchmarks for the industry, Chaudhary added.

Modules manufactured at the Vallam plant will be supplied to customers across India, supporting utility-scale developers, C&I customers and distributed generation projects as the country accelerates its ambitious renewable energy goals.
