Joe Root plays a beautiful knock

While he chased a large target of 374 runs in the last innings of the fifth test, Joe Root took responsibility and played an exceptional knock.

He built up a crucial partnership with Harry Brook from 195 runs that put India under enormous pressure. Root did not stop in the middle and he completed his century in the 69th.

He celebrated his century in style by attracting a white headband to bring a stylish tribute to Graham Thorpe, and it was his 39th tons for Wortel in Testcricket.

After the wicket of Harry Brook and Jacob Bethell, Joe Root came under a light pressure and was finally rejected by his Nemesis Prasidh Krishna in the 73rd.

On the last ball of the over, bowde prasidh krishna a short-of-a length of blunt to Joe Root, who pushed it away from his body.

However, he only succeeded in getting a thick edge, and the ball flew to Dhruv Jurgel, who dived and pulled a stunning catch to finish the innings of root for 105 runs of 152 balls.

A really beautiful test cricket player – Nasser Hussain

Speaking at Sky Sports, former English skipper Nasser Hussain said that root is a beautiful test cricket player and that he is in the form of his life. He said:

“A really beautiful test cricket player in the form of his life. England’s present no. 4 will never forget the previous no. 4 that meant so much to him.”

Nasser Hussain also thought that Root played the best cover drives of his career in the current game.

“Root has played on a root way, hardly played a shot in anger and just caresses the ball. I don’t know if I have ever seen him play the cover drive as well as he has today – which is a big explanation because he drives so well. While he is, England will feel comfortable.”

Also, earlier during the tea break, Nasser Hussain said that Mohammed Siraj’s fallen from Harry Brook India might cost the series. He said:

“Siraj has done so much in the series – leading wicket –taker, all his heart and passion – but can be reminded for the catch that was not [when Brook was on 19]. That is the game, I fear and that was a game changing moment. If Brook goes there, England might have had a little trouble. Does Siraj have anything left now? That light on the gasoline meter is on … “
