Things keep getting worse for Greg Hardy.

Hardy was once a promising football player but was kicked out of the NFL after a domestic violence scandal. He then tried to reinvent himself as a mixed martial artist. Despite some early success in the UFC, he was eventually exposed as a pretty mediocre fighter and eventually parted ways with the promotion.

Afterwards, the UFC and NFL outcast spent some time competing in boxing, both traditionally and barehanded. He picked up a few wins to start, but after a hot and cold run, he ended up spending more than two years on the shelf.

At the age of 37, Hardy finally returned to the ring this week, taking on a man named Evgeny Goncharov in an exhibition boxing match in Vologda, Russia. The fight ended in disaster for him, as he stopped on his stool between rounds.

Shortly after the fight stopped, Hardy was heard asking for his inhaler.

“I have asthma,” he said.

Fight fans will remember a similar scene that happened shortly after Hardy arrived at the UFC. After two consecutive knockout victories, he was paired with Australian Ben Sosoli. The fight ultimately ended as a No Contest, as Hardy used his inhaler between rounds – a violation of athletic commission rules.

While the future certainly doesn’t look bright for the former footballer’s martial arts career, overall it hasn’t been without success. He had some decent wins in the UFC. During his time in the Octagon he defeated Juan Adams, Yorgan De Castro and Maurice Greene.
