Video shows Nick Reiner in a gas station store as the LAPD arrests him for murdering his parents

LOS ANGELES (KABC) — New video shows Nick Reiner moments before his arrest and as he was taken into custody for the murders of his parents, renowned director Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer.

Nick Reiner, 32, was charged Tuesday with two counts of first-degree murder with a special circumstance of multiple counts of murder, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced. He also faces a special allegation that he personally used a dangerous and deadly weapon: a knife.

Nick Reiner was taken into custody Sunday night in Exposition Park after allegedly stabbing his parents to death in their Brentwood home, prosecutors said.

Recorded footage appears to show Nick Reiner wearing a hat with a red backpack in a convenience store at a gas station. He is seen walking around the shop and buying a drink.

At one point, a man who appears to be a law enforcement officer enters the store while Nick Reiner is waiting in line to make his purchase.

Additional video shows Nick Reiner walking as an LAPD vehicle races toward the area of ​​Exposition Boulevard and Vermont Avenue. As soon as an officer gets out of the car, Reiner puts his hands up and is arrested.

Nick Reiner’s attorney, Alan Jackson – who helped defend Karen Read in Massachusetts – told reporters on Tuesday that the 32-year-old had not yet been given the standard medical clearance to appear in court.

Nick Reiner has been open about battling drug addiction since he was a teenager. In 2016, Nick Reiner collaborated with his father on the film ‘Being Charlie’, which was largely based on his battle with drug addiction.

On Saturday night, Rob and Nick Reiner got into an argument at a holiday party, and at the party Nick was seen acting strangely, sources told ABC News.
