Pakistani opener Saim AyubThe bad run with the bat went on when he registered his fourth duck in six innings during the Super Four Clash of the Asia Cup 2025 against Bangladesh in Dubai. The left -handed fell early again and added another inning without an impact.
Ayub was confronted with off-spinner Mahedi Hasan in only second place, but failed to connect well and handed over a simple catch to Rishad Hossain halfway. Pakistan saw the dismissal struggling at 5 to 2 within two overs. For Ayub it was his ninth duck in 45 T20iinings, who moved him to second place on Pakistan’s all-time list of most ducks in the format, behind only Umar Akmal (10). He now has six ducks in 2025, with Richard Narava from Zimbabwe for the most in a single calendar year.
The Ayub’s Asia Cup campaign is miserable. After Golden Ducks against Oman and India in the group stage and a duck with two balls versus VAE, Thursday added the three-ball duck in his misery. His only remarkable contribution in the tournament remains a 21-run knock against India, while his other five innings have seen a lean of two runs.
In the meantime, Pakistan’s first innings was just as disappointing. First send to Bat, they only placed 135 for 8 out of 20 overs. Taskin Ahmed gave Bangladesh the perfect start by removing Sahibzada Farhan for four in the very first. Ayub followed shortly thereafter, before Fakhar Zaman died after adding only 13 out of 20 balls and fell to Rishad Hossain.
Halfway through, Pakistan stood at 33 for 4. Skipper Salman Agha (19 out of 23) and Hussain Talat (3 out of 7) tried to stabilize himself, together with late cameets from Mohammad Haris (31 out of 23) and Mohammad Nawaz (25 out of 15) to push the total last 130. twice each.
