“Funky” has reached a small setback.
Retired Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Fighter, I am asking” Today released a video on his social media (Mon., July 28, 2025) in which he revealed that after his recent resignation he was back in the hospital, after having undergone a double lung transplant surgery after a life -threatening disease last month, in which he died four times.
“As you can probably tell, I am no longer at home – unfortunately,” said Askren. “I had my first control this morning. They did not like the way the last breast tube looked. They thought it was infected, put me on antibiotics and took a few X-rays. Hopefully they will get this solved quickly. But you know, the Stockdale Paradox-Het is not always slippery.”
Last weekend Askren released a video of itself that split on a stationary bicycle, focused on his recovery.
He also shared an update that showed himself Shirtless and revealed his noticeably thinner frame. He said he is 35 pounds away from his ideal weight and said he is still trusting a walker to move.
Hopefully this is indeed only a small setback for the wrestling legend, and he will soon return to his recovery and his famous sharp humor.
