Washington:
Tulsi Gabbard, director of the United States of National Intelligence (DNI), said on Tuesday that the American intelligence community has assessed that Iran is currently not actively striving for a nuclear weapon, but the discussion about nuclearization has increased in the Tehran regime.
“The IC continues to assess that Iran does not build a nuclear weapon and the supreme leader Kamanei the nuclear weapon program he suspended in 2003,” she said during the hearing of the Senate Committee.
Gabbard, however, added that in recent years it was seen that there was “an erosion of a taboo in Iran for decades about discussing nuclear weapons in public, probably proponents of nuclear weapons within Iran’s decision -making device.”
“The enriched uranium stocks of Iran is at the highest level and is unprecedented for a state without nuclear weapons,” she added.
In the meantime, the DNI director added that the full impact of renewed sanctions on Iran is still not in force, but that the “message” by Tehran “has certainly been heard”.
Earlier in October 2024, the United States also said that it was of the opinion that Iran did not decide to build a nuclear weapon despite the strategic setbacks of Tehran, including Israel’s murder of Hezbollah leaders and two largely failed attempts to attack Israel.
US Intelligence Report
The DNI has also released the annual threat assessment of the intelligence community in combination with the hearing. The report predicted that Iran will try to use his robust rocket capacity and extensive nuclear program, and his diplomatic outreach to regional states and American rivals to strengthen its regional influence and to guarantee the survival of the regime.
However, regional and domestic challenges, most of the immediate tensions with Israel, seriously test the ambitions and possibilities of Iran, added,
“The IC assesses Iran’s prospects for the reconstitution of strength losses and the formation of a credible deterrent, in particular for Israeli actions, his DIM in the short term,” the report continues.
It suggested that Tehran will continue his efforts to combat Israel and press the United States to leave the region by helping and arming his loose consortium of like -minded terrorists, known as the ‘axis of resistance’.
The report also noted that Iranian investments in his army have been an important shelf of his efforts to confront and try to scare different threats and to defend it against an attack by the United States or Israel. Iran will also continue to threaten American people directly and will continue to make an effort to develop surrogate networks in the United States, it added.
The report also stated that Tehran is planning to grow the growing relationships with other important American opponents and the Global South to limit the efforts of America to minimize the regime and to limit the impact of Western sanctions. “The diplomatic efforts of Tehran, including sometimes outreach to Europe-oline, probably continue with different degrees of success,” said it.
However, it added that the Iranian political and economic struggle could be feeded for renewed domestic political unrest and protest in Iran, unless Iran is granted sanctions.
The report also showed that Russia is developing a new satellite that is intended to wear a nuclear weapon that could have “devastating consequences” for the US and the world.
