A couple of goals for the second period of freshmen Conrad Fondrk And Jonathan Morellojust 66 seconds apartgave #20 BU a 2-1 lead over Harvard en route to a 4-1 win at the Bright-Landry Hockey Center. Terriers would add a few empty goals Ben Merrill And Sacha Boisvert to seal the win and earn their third consecutive road win.

Sophomore Mikhail Yegorov came up big for BU, stopping 28 of 29 shots and saving his teammates when turnovers created some A chances for the Crimson. Yegorov, who shutout UMass on Friday and then scored one goal in Saturday’s rematchon his own faultturned aside from making 62 of 64 shots in the three games for an eye-popping .969 save percentage.

After a pair of forgettable efforts in November, the Devils’ 2024 second-round pick has allowed just 11 goals in his last seven starts.

“It was a huge victory for us,” said a visibly satisfied coach Jay Parolfo. “We’re not used to playing three nights out of four, but our boys responded very well. I thought we started a little slow, but in the second half of the period we started to find our game.

“The second period I thought we were really good. Once we got the goal there was a sigh of relief from our group, who hadn’t scored in a while. In the third period we knew they were going to push, but we kept at it. We blocked shots when we needed to. Just a great team effort from the goaltender.”

He added: “I liked all four lines tonight. They complimented each other very well.’

BU’s fourth non-conference winthey are 4-3-1 outside of Hockey Eastraises the Terriers to #20 in the NPI rankings. Terriers have now defeated the Crimson nine times in the last twelve meetings (9-2-1).

Early in the opening period, BU struggled to get clean O-zone entries and maintain possession there. Halfway through the period a piece came out Gavin McCarthy Merrill jumped on a breakaway that was defended.

Harvard opened the scoring in a rush after thwarting a Terrier boarding attempt. Joe Miller skated into the BU zone and beat Yegorov with a hard wrist from the right circle.

In the second period, BU used its speed to counter Harvard’s forecheck, creating opportunities both on and off the rush. At 11:01 a.m., the Terriers ended a 123-minute scoreless stretch dating back to the second period of Friday’s game.

Boisvert skated into the Harvard zone, but lost control. Fondrk recovered the puck, skated over the high slot into the left circle and fired a shot over goaltender Ben Charette’s blocker for his third goal of the season. Sascha Boumedienne provided the second assist.

A minute later, Harvard disrupted a BU cycle in the Crimson zone, but Morello recovered the puck. It moved to Ryder Ritchieand then to McCarthy and to Cole Hutson who fired a shot from the left point. Morello, who had driven to the net, tipped the drive past Charette for his fourth goal of the season and a 2-1 lead

BU dominated possession and zone time for the remainder of the period, creating several good scoring opportunities. A fine for that Jack Murtagh that gave Harvard its only power play of the game was successfully killed. Terriers put 15 shots on the Crimson goal in that period.

As expected, Harvard pushed for an equalizer in the third period, firing seven shots on goal in the first eleven minutes, but Yegorov was up to the task. BU tightened its defense and allowed just four shots the rest of the way.

After Charette was called up for an extra attacker, Kamil Bednarik blocked a shot and Morello turned the puck into the Harvard zone. Merrill outsmarted a defenseman to get to the puck and fired it into the empty net.

Harvard drew the goalkeeper again and this time it was Boisvert who scored the ENG with assists Aiden Celebrini And Cole Eiserman.

Together with his goal and assist, Morello won nine of the thirteen draws. Over the past three games, the Bruins draft pick has been 22 of 27 from the spot.

Improving an issue that dogged BU earlier this season, the Terrier took just four penalties in the three gamesone of which is a coincidence– and killed all three power plays.

Celebrini led BU with three blocked shots.

Summary: Tigres Young Guns Hand…

NHL Central Scouting has its interim ranking for the 2026 draft. Among them were six Terrier recruits North American skaters: #5 Caleb Malhotra#7 Tynan Lawrence #17 Egor Shilov (photo), #37 Lucas Schairer#50 Braid Wassilyn and #90 Rian Chudzinski. 2027 recruit Brady Knowledge is the highest rated North American goalkeeper.

Athletic’s Scott Wheeler commented: “Malhotra’s ranking (No. 5 in North America) is consistent with what scouts have been saying about him for some time: that he is firmly in the top five.”

Cory Pronman: “Lawrence is a little low for me. I had him Number 1 overall a few weeks agoso obviously I think seventh place in North America won’t happen. His offense may not be elite, but he is a much better game driver than some of the players judged before him for his skating and work ethic.”

The January draft rankings from the Hockey Writers has Lawrence at #4 and Malhotra at #5.
