Rimini“I have photographed beaches everywhere: the show was always guaranteed. As a photographer it is above all fascinated me beaches: vanity, performance, social mirror, human relationships, vulgarity, the play of bodies, the massitual rite”.
Word by Ferdinando Scianna, under the protagonists of the unprecedented photographic exhibition May Magnum. From Ferdinan Ferder de Martin Parr. Magnum photos and the beachesUp to 5 October in the exhibition spaces of Villa Mussolini, in Riccione, compiled by Andréa Holzherr and organized by Civita exhibitions and museums in collaboration with Magnum photos and RJMA cultural projects.
The aim of eight large photographers of the Magnum Photos Agency – Ferdinando Scianna, Bruno Barbey, Bruce Gilden, Harry Gruyaert, Trent Parke, Olivia Arthur, Newsha Tavakolian and Martin Parr – are called to explore the multiple facets of life on the beach on the beach on the beach on the beach on the beach on the beach on the beach on the beach on the beach on the beach on the beach on the beach on the beach on the beach on the beach on the beach on the beach on the beach on the beach on the beach on the beach on the beach on the beach on the beach on the beach with a facetten of life with the stretch of life with the stretch of life with the beach on the beach on the beach on the beach on the beach on the beach with a facetten of life. Visual story that reveals human condition in a universal scenario.
Whether it is in color or in black and white, steeped in joy, loneliness or the sublime power of nature, beach photography remains a rich and suggestive theme, which is inviting not only to look at the coast as a destination, but as a canvas for visual expression.
Geographical horizon and size of the soul, “Sand Diary on which every wave writes and knew stories”, as the Romagna author Fabio Fiori writes, the beach rises to place of constant transformation where every step trace leaves and is renewed at the same time. The images collected by the great masters of the Magnum therefore create a deep bond with the imagination of Riccione, making this exhibition a universal reflection on human condition.
Scianna’s tribute to the city is a selection of shots made in 1989. We immerse ourselves under the images characterized by a feeling of time of time, in which the interaction between people, light and landscape reveals something fundamentally about the human condition. Bruno Barbey takes us to China, where the beach takes place of mass tourism and urban development, with its images steeped in an underground tension between the rapidly evolving landscape and the elementary and timeless nature of the sea. Artificial structures such as hotels, umbrellas or catwalks are sometimes lost in the background, leaving the scene of swimmers. The result is a contemplative mood, as if it has to suggest that, despite the rapid modernization that surrounds us, the sea still remains a constant and eternal force.
With Bruce guilds we strive for the beach of Coney Island, an eccentric theater of the New York Seaside Culture. A genuine appearance and without flowering filters and extravagant characters, picturesque figures under flash that transform the beach into an arena of exaggerated expressions, skin polished by the sun and bodies provocatively relaxed.

The summary beauty of the North Sea, where the interaction between light, color and atmosphere transforms family landscapes into something ethereal, pulls the goal of Harry Gruyaert that is lost between the wind, heavy skies and a light that is between soft pastels and deep melancholic blue.
Trent Parke places the landscape and the people who live it in the middle of his works. Far from being displayed as idyllic places, the vastness of sand environments with strong contrasts, rich in natural energy. The strong tension between light and darkness reflects the emotional currents of life on the beach, giving photos a cinematographic touch.
It is the turn of two young photographers. IR Olivia Arthur Has Created in India and Mumbai photographic works of great impact, or exploring the themes of gender Identity and the encounter between tradition and modernity, newsha tavakolian findakolian findpacolian place on the beaches of the beach to good vent to gorthe Toe -toy The Tensions Between Modernity and Tradition, Freedom and Conscousness, Private Life in A Country in A Country Between Conflicting Cultural Forces. A lively and sometimes humorous exploration of the British coastal culture dominates the photos of Martin Parr and records moments of weakness, clumsiness and absurdity. PARR transforms the beach at a stage where the peculiarities of daily life are exaggerated and at the same time.
