Merab Dvalishvili has said that despite his title loss at UFC 323, the promotion has assured him a title rematch when he next competes.
Dvalishvili’s fourth defense of the bantamweight belt in a year and his bid to be the first to do so in 12 months went unfulfilled as Petr Yan played spoiler with a standout performance in the rematch.
At UFC 323, Yan not only matched the striking fight against Dvalishvili, but he also matched Dvalishvili’s speed, stopped the takedowns and knocked him out. Ultimately, ‘No Mercy’ achieved a unanimous decision victory and ruined the Georgian’s plans.
Dvalishvili accepted defeat as champion and assured the crowd that he intended to give them an entertaining fight rather than just wrestle and wrestle. ‘The Machine’ wants to turn it back, and he said the same thing during the Octagon interview.
