Nassourdine Imavov believes that there will be a clear no. 1 candidate in the middleweight after UFC Paris.
Imavov has the chance to undoubtedly leave when he brings UFC Paris in the buyer on Saturday against Caio Borralho. UFC CEO Dana White said that the winners of Imavov vs. Borralho and Reinier de Ridder vs. Anthony Hernandez will be taken into consideration for a title shot against Khamazat Chimaev. The fight of the Ridder vs. Hernandez takes place on October 18.
Although many consider the situation as an unofficial mini tournament, Imavov is not of that mentality. During a MediaSchrum, ‘the sniper’ said that he will be the only contender where the UFC will once see that his fight with Borralho is over (via Inappropriate).
“There will not be a semi -final,” said Imavov. “With a victory I am the next competition. As I said, nobody did what I did: five victories. Who has Israel (Adesanya) eliminated that way? Who did it? No, I am the next competition for the title.”
Imavov has made it clear that he does not feel that Borralho deserves to be in the middleweight title interview. In fact, he would rather have confronted De Ridder in UFC Paris in a real Nr. 1 candidate fight.
“Why does he deserve? For what reason? What did he do? It was a year ago that he was the last time. Last year he fought twice. He deserves no more than De Ridder.”
Imavov went so far to say that Borralho is ‘privileged’. He also thinks that the rising Brazilian star has tried to come in the good greasings of UFC management to further increase his career.
