The fight card was headlined by a men’s flyweight bout pitting former division champion Brandon Moreno against Lone’er Kavanagh. The match proved to be a coming out party for the young English fighter in Lone’er Kavanagh. The prospect was able to defeat Brandon Moreno from the opening bell and easily defeated the former champion in the first two rounds. Although rounds 3, 4 and 5 were much closer, ‘The Assassin Baby’ never really gained momentum and ultimately lost a unanimous decision. It was a huge win for Kavanagh, one that will push him near the top of the flyweight rankings.
UFC Mexico City was headlined by a men’s bantamweight bout pitting former division title challenger Marlon Vera against David Martinez. The match resulted in a strong performance for star David Martinez. ‘Black Spartan’ was able to use his speed and footwork to defeat Marlon Vera in the first two rounds. However, ‘Chito’ finally found his feet in the third and final round, but it wasn’t enough to secure the stoppage or the judges’ decision.
