One of the two flyweight fights on the men’s side of the UFC Houston undercard pitted Ode Osbourne against Alibi Idiris.

“The Jamaican Sensation” Osbourne has found himself in a tough spot, going just 1-4 in his last five fights; Idiris from Kazakhstan had suffered the first defeat in his professional career. That saw The ultimate fighter 33 alum lost to Joseph Morales in the finals, a fight he was favored to win.

It was a fast start for the TUF vet, landing a leaping left hand to put Osbourne on one knee, and another straight right flush to open the fight for the Kazakh fighter. Idiris followed up a display of striking with a well-timed takedown after two failed attempts, controlling Osbourne before the “Jamaican Sensation” reared back up. Back in the open space, Ode’ Osbourne started to get used to his timing and found some success with counter hooks as the first round came to a close.

The tides continued to turn at the start of round 2, with Osbourne finding Alibi Idris’ pace, denying two takedown attempts and landing a series of combinations, including a clean body hook that drew a slight reaction from the Kazakh flyweight. Although Alibi was able to pick up his second fight victory after an overzealous Osbourne began unleashing his power attacks. Osbourne’s rhythm seemingly disrupted despite being back on his feet, Idiris was able to land another takedown in some clean ground strikes to stamp the second round in his favor.

An early takedown by Alibi Idiris set the tone for Round 3, though Osbourne returned to his feet and knocked off Idiris with a right hook, only to be quickly brought back to the ground by the former TUF runner-up. Ode’ managed to reverse the position to top full guard and needed a finish, but ultimately made none of it as Idiris got back to his feet and cruised to the end of the round.

Alibi Idiris moves to 11-1, tying his UFC record at 1-1, while Osbourne falls to 13-10 and 5-8 under the UFC banner.

Official result: Alibi Idiris final. Ode’ Osbourne by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)
