The UFC Perth match between Neil Magny and Jake Matthews ended in controversy and one director responded.
Magny and Matthews shared the Octagon in Rac Arena in Perth last Saturday. Referee Jim Perdios officer of the game and he caused a commotion at the end of the opening frame. Matthews locked in a choke and perdios seemed to wave the fight just before the horn. Magny protested immediately and Perdios ruled that it was the end of the round. Eventually Magny made a comeback victory in the third round through entry.

During the UFC Perth Post-Fight Press Conference, Dave Shaw, the VP of international and content, responded to the controversy (via Inappropriate).
“The whole situation was strange,” Shaw said at the UFC Fight Night 260 Post-Fight Press Conference. “There was confusion where we were. There were some of us who just talked about the details. I think that in the end, and everyone will have a different position, but as we saw it, the arm seemed to go a bit weak. Magny’s arm came a bit of fight.”
The Matthews team has already revealed plans to appeal against the loss. Whether or not the bolt result will be changed to a NO match. It is a bitter pill for swallowing Matthews, who initially thought he won his fourth straight victory. For now he has suffered his first loss since 2023.
As far as Magny is concerned, he is now driving on a two-fog winning series when the victory is on Matthews. It is the fifth victory in the entry in Magny’s Pro MMA career.
