As we know, Joshua Van is the current king of the UFC flyweight division. He won the title as a result of an injury suffered by Alexandre Pantoja during their title fight and as a result, he will forever go down in history as one of the youngest world champions the promotion has ever seen. In his next appearance he defends the title against Tatsuro Taira.

While many felt that Manel Kape would be the one to get the call, Taira is the one who will step up and try to take down the surging Van. It appears he still has many years left at the top level of the sport based on what he has produced so far, but of course we can’t know for sure until he gets back to work.
Someone who has a lot of experience and success to his name is former UFC and ONE Championship legend Demetrious Johnson. In a recent interview, Van made an interesting comment about what he knows about DJ’s past work.
Van reflects on Johnson’s legacy
“I swear to God I didn’t know he was in the UFC,” Van said of Johnson on the JAXXON Podcast. “I saw him fight in ONE Championship, and I remember his highlight was everywhere when he knocked out (Adriano Moraes) with the flying knee. I think it was like his revenge or something, because the guy knocked him out. I see that video a lot. Now I know him, but I’ve never seen his fights.”
