Undisputed heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall puts his title on the line at Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Arena on Saturday in a highly anticipated 265-pound main event at UFC 321.
Saturday’s fight marks the first title defense for Aspinall after the British fighter was promoted from interim status earlier this year following the retirement of Jon Jones, whom he had long hoped to face in a fight to unify the title. The 32-year-old has built a reputation as a fast finisher, having achieved six of his eight wins via first-round knockouts.
He now faces French two-time title challenger Ciryl Gane, who made another controversial attempt to defeat Alexander Volkov via split decision at UFC 310 last December.
Saturday’s lineup also includes another title fight as a co-main event, with Virna Jandiroba and Mackenzie Dern taking on the vacant UFC women’s strawweight title.
