Nigeria’s Flying Eagles will be in the play-off of third place against hosts Egypt in the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations 2025 without the duo of Ebenezer Harcourt and Odinaka Okoro.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) explained in a statement why both players will not act against the Junior Pharaohs.

“Two players of Flying Eagles are excluded from the third place on Sunday against Egypt: First-Choice goalkeeper Ebenezer Harcourt (injury) and defender Odinaka Okoro (suspension),” De NFF wrote on X.

Harcourt took the injury in the semi-final against the Amajita of South Africa, who lost the Flying Eagles 1-0.

For his part, Okoro also received a yellow card in the match against South Africa, who was his second in back-to-back matches, hence his suspension.

The Flying Eagles hope to end their campaign at this year’s U-20 AFCON at a peak when they are confronted with Egypt.

Both teams had met in a friendly game prior to the start of the tournament with the coach Aliyu Zubicru-guided side who won 2-1.

In the meantime, the Flying Eagles, Morocco, Egypt and South Africa have all qualified for the FIFA U-20 World Cup this year in Chile.

Their qualification was secured after they had reached the semi-final of the U-20 AFCON.
