An alleged Palestinian attacker ran over a man and stabbed a woman in northern Israel on Friday, Israeli emergency services said.
The alleged attacker, from the occupied West Bank, was shot and wounded at the scene by a civilian and taken to hospital, Israeli police said in a statement.
“This was a progressive terrorist attack,” police added.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said he had ordered the army to respond strongly in the West Bank town of Qabaitya, where he said the alleged attacker came from, to thwart further attacks.
The Israeli military said it was “preparing for an operation” in the area.
Israel’s ambulance service said a teenager was also injured in the attack and the man and woman were pronounced dead at the scene after medics were unable to revive them.
Israeli reservist rams Palestinian man with vehicle
It comes a day after an Israeli reservist soldier reportedly rammed his vehicle into a Palestinian man as he prayed along the road in the occupied West Bank after earlier firing in the area, the Israeli military said.
“Images have been received of an armed individual running over a Palestinian,” the report said in a statement, adding that the individual was a reservist and his military service had ended.
The reservist acted “in serious violation of his authority” and his weapon was confiscated, the army said.
Israeli media reported that he was under house arrest.
Israeli police did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The Palestinian man went to the hospital for a check-up after the attack, but was unharmed and is now home.
In a video broadcast on Palestinian television, a man in civilian clothes with a gun over his shoulder can be seen driving an all-terrain vehicle into a praying man on the side of the road.
This year marked one of the most violent Israeli civilian attacks on Palestinians in the West Bank on record, according to United Nations data showing more than 750 injuries.
According to the UN, more than a thousand Palestinians were killed in the West Bank between October 7, 2023 and October 17, 2025, mainly during security force operations and some in settler violence.
During the same period, 57 Israelis were killed in Palestinian attacks.
