Tulsa Drillers adds alternate uniform

In an effort to celebrate the oil industry and Route 66, the Tulsa Drillers have added a new alternate uniform to their uniform lineup, which already included quite a wide variety of uniforms.

The new alternate uniform is a navy blue jersey on top of white pants. The front of the jersey features the words Tulsa, in a font meant to “copy” the neon signs along Route 66. There is a baby blue trim around the bottom of the sleeves.

The sweater itself does not commemorate the oil industry, but the accompanying cap does. An oil rig is depicted on the front. On top of this oil rig there is a small flame. Tulsa is known for its share in the American oil industry. Since the early 20th century, Tulsa has promoted itself as the oil capital of the world.

Route 66 is commemorated with a patch on the right sleeve. “Modest” writes the patch Capital of Route 66, which celebrates 100 years. The Mother Road, as Route 66 is also called, was inaugurated in 1926. It runs from Chicago to Los Angeles and crosses the states of Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California. At the inauguration of Route 66 the length was 2,448 miles. Over the decades the length was shortened. By 1960, its length had shrunk to 3,238 miles.

It can be expected that more clubs in Minor League cities along the Mother Road will celebrate the centenary. Cities like Albuquerque, Oklahoma City, Springfield, San Bernadino and Amarillo.
