Tulane University announced that basketball player Gregg Glenn III died last weekend at the age of 22 in a ‘tragic accident’. The school released a statement on Monday in which the news was announced.
“Our program was destroyed this morning when we heard from the death of our beloved Gregg Glenn III,” said Tulane head coach Ron Hunter in a Tweet posted by the X account of the team. “He was not only an exceptional athlete, but also a remarkable person who brought energy, dedication and kindness to our team and the community. Gregg’s spirit and passion will be deeply missed, and our thoughts will be with his family and friends during this difficult time. We will honor his memory by celebrating the impact he had on all.
Glenn played two seasons with the Green Wave. He started all 34 games last season and is in fourth place in the team scoring with 10.6 points per game. He shot 49.8% of the field and pulled down 5.3 rebounds per night. He also wore 3.1 assists per match.

“We have lost a cherished member of our university community, Gregg Glenn III, who died this weekend in a tragic accident”, said in a statement. “He was a talented student athlete who enriched our lives with his spirit, dedication and passion for both sports and academics. Gregg was an excellent athlete in our basketball team for men and a person who brought joy and light to the people around him. His dedication to excellence inspired us.
“Let us not only remember Gregg for his performance in sport, but for the friendliness and warmth he shared with everyone. He will be part of our university family forever.”
