England manager, Thomas Tuchel was “not happy” with the narrow victory of the Drie Lions on Andorra to the Top 2026 FIFA World Cup’s UEFA qualifying group K.
The 50th minute winner of Harry Kane of the Low Cross of Noni Madueke ensured that England remains the top of their qualifying group in a different terrible version.
“Of course I am not happy with the performance,” Tuchel raged in an interview after the competition about the display “We can admit that it is not what we expect from us. We have to do better. We have time to look at it in detail and to tackle it clearly and immediately to be better on Tuesday.”
Tuchel, however, was happy with how they started the game on the dominant attacking forefoot, which he described as “the only part” where he believed they could score before they fell in the last 20 minutes of the opening half.
“We have created many half chances and many set pieces and I felt that it was a matter of time that we would score and continue.
“We have completely lost the momentum [and] Couldn’t get it back the entire first half. We got it a little bit back in the first 15 minutes of the second half and then ended in a period that was by far not good enough. “
However, the ex Chelsea boss was not amused with the second half of attitude once ahead of the last 20 minutes that the desire was to be urgent in their game.
“I was most concerned in the last 20 minutes because I didn’t like the attitude we had ended with this game. It almost felt like we had to play until the 93rd minute. I didn’t like the lack of urgency, I felt it didn’t match the occasion.”
Tuchel, however, found enthusiasm to praise Madueke for his performance, because he considered the 23-year-old as the most important player who had met his expectations, which he admitted that only a “few” players had matched his pre-match hope.
“He was perhaps the most dangerous in the course of the game,” Tuchel explains. “I felt his hunger, his desire and determination to do what the plan was to do. He was one of the few who met expectations.”
