Tsimikas was loaned to Roma at the end of the summer transfer window, but with no commitment or option to buy agreed, he is currently set to return to Merseyside in 2026.
The Serie A team could welcome that, as head coach Gian Piero Gasperini does not yet fully trust the Greek and has recently preferred right back Wesley to replace the absent Angelino.
With the jury still out on whether Milos Kerkez and Andy Robertson’s contracts expire at the end of the season, Tsimikas could potentially be brought back for the 2026/2027 season.
And talk to The Athletics’s Jacob Whitehead, he suggested he would be open to that development.
“You never know,” Tsimikas said when asked if he hoped to rejoin Liverpool.
“The most important thing for me is to be healthy, train hard and play more matches. Next year is a different story for me.”
“I want to be successful, I want to win things. Only God knows what will happen in the next year.”
Why Tsimikas is having a hard time at Roma

Tsimikas was not included as a guaranteed first choice in Gasperini’s squad, but as competition for regular starter Angelino.
However, a number of mistakes when called upon reduced his playing time. He has started just three of the last 11 games since Angelino was sidelined by a long-term illness.
Wesley has instead taken on duties on the left flank, with the Brazilian impressing from position and restricting Tsimikas to short substitutes.
In his interview with The Athletic, the Greece international explained: “Right now for me it’s about getting used to the playing style, and for me it’s a little bit more difficult.
“But I have to try to do my best every time the coach gives me the opportunity to play.
“The team comes first and I want to be a big part of that and hopefully celebrate that with a trophy at the end of the season.”
Liverpool could consider Tsimikas as an option next season

Although Liverpool were willing to loan Tsimikas this summer with no guarantee of a permanent move, that does not completely rule out a future at Anfield.
Robertson is yet to agree an extension to his deal and if he chooses to move on, the Reds will look for a new replacement for Kerkez, who will still be the first choice in the long term.
Tsimikas’ contract expires in 2027, meaning he would have another year on his terms in the summer. If he were to stay, it is likely that the club would try to tie him down to a new contract.

It is understood that the preferred option would be to retain Robertson, who was named vice-captain ahead of the current season and remains a reliable starter.
But that decision could be out of Liverpool’s hands with the Scot yet to confirm whether he will commit or leave on a free transfer.
Kostas Tsimikas: “I love everything about Liverpool”

There could be a deciding factor in whether Tsimikas chooses to stay or not, obviously in his affinity with Liverpool as a club and a city.
“I miss the city. I lived there for five years. I love everything about Liverpool,” he explained.
“They have a special part of my heart. The people are very nice, some of the friendliest I have ever met in football.”
“They always tried to support the team, in good times and bad, they always did their best to help you.
“I want everything for this club, because from day one I was fully committed. I was the Greek Scouser and I always will be, I will keep it all my life.”
