The FDA forces Pfizer and Moderna to use extensive warning labels about the risks of heart damage associated with COVID vaccines.
The shots include warning labels about the rare risks of myocarditis, inflammation of the heart muscle and pericarditis, inflammation of the pocket -like lining around the heart.
The new labels will expand that warning to certain age groups – in particular men aged 16 to 25 who seem to run the highest risk of the rare complication.
The new guidance comes as an FDA analysis of insurance claims, it turned out that myocarditis and pericarditis took place in a 125,000 doses of the shots of 2023-2024 for children and adults under the age of 65.
For men younger than 25, the risk was 19 per 500,000, or the equivalent of one in 250.
Experts warn that there have been no American deaths who are directly bound to Covid-vaccine-triggered myocarditis and that the COVID virus itself is linked to heart damage, which means that the benefits of vaccination still outweigh the small risk.
The CDC previously acknowledged that both conditions were known side effects of the vaccines, but gave no number of cases.
It is unclear exactly when the new labels will come into effect or disputed the order as a Pfizer or Moderna.
Dr. Marty Makary, head of the FDA, is depicted here. His desk has announced this week Pfizer and Moderna will have to update their warning labels from Covid Vaccine about the risks of myocarditis and pericarditis

The FDA estimates that myocarditis and pericarditis performed in a 125,000 doses of the COVID shots of 2023-2024. Previous studies, as shown above, have estimated a risk between one in 50,000 and one in 200,000
The news comes after a conference investigation accused of Biden Witte Huis -officials of deliberately hiding warnings about myocarditis in young people.
The report suggested that a planned Health Alert Network (HAN) message from the CDC on myocarditis was not released and concepts of the alert -limited risks.
The order is also the last in the performance of the Trump administration against Covid -vaccines.
Last week, reports from the Ministry of Health and Human Services suggested that the shots would no longer be routinely recommended for pregnant women, children and teenagers in the US.
And the FDA announced earlier this week that updated COVID vaccins are no longer automatically approved for use without clinical safety tests.

Myocarditis thinks that the MRNA immune system can register in Covid vaccines as a threat, causing the immune system to attack itself and causes inflammation of the myocardium, the muscle of the heart.
This same mechanism is linked to pericarditis, which leads to inflammation of the pericardium, the bag around the heart.
Both disorders are linked to viruses such as the cold and hepatitis, as well as Covid.
Although most cases are mild, in rare cases myocarditis can damage the heart and make it difficult to pump blood, which ultimately leads to heart failure, heart attack and stroke.
CDC officials last month told the FDA vaccine advisors that acute myocarditis tends to resolve quickly ‘after vaccination.
The voluntary side effect of the CDC that database -database -Vaers has registered more than 1,600 cases of myocarditis in the US, mainly in young men 12 to 29 after they had received a Pfizer or modern vaccine.

Although heart damage is a well -known side effect of the COVID vaccins, the health authorities believe that the chance is rare and the benefits of shooting greater than potential damage (stock image)
The FDA said that the call for new warnings was encouraged by data from the Bureau’s security monitoring system and the results of a October study From people who developed COVID vaccine-associated myocarditis.
Scientists followed people who had chest pain and had increased levels of troponin in their blood, a protein that indicates heart damage. Most participants were adolescent men.
The researchers wrote in the study, which was co-author of the FDA officials: “Although their clinical course was almost always mild with a low prevalence and size of heart disease function, myocardial injury was common.”
Currently there is no conclusive proof of deaths in the US that are directly caused by myocarditis from Covid -vaccines.
For example, a study from the Oregon from 2023 that assessed death certificates, for example, found no fatalities linked to myocarditis induced by vaccine in persons aged 16 to 30 years.
However, some researchers warn that under -reporting is possible due to gaps in the American health care system, where mild or atypical cases cannot be registered.
Nevertheless, the consensus among the health authorities that fatal results of vaccine-related myocarditis-as they perform are rare, while the risks of severe Covid, including heart damage, remain well documented.
