Economist Larry Kudlow President predicts Donald Trump Will make large movements in the Federal Reserve when chairman Jerome Powell Steps down.
What happened: Kudlow, who served as director of the National Economic Council from 2018 to 2021, shared his opinion about the independence of the Federal Reserve and what Trump should do in the future.
Kudlow said that Trump and Powell are at odds that go back to the president’s first term.
“Trump was furious with Powell in the first term for increasing rates for no specific reason,” Kudlow said in a recent interview on the podcast “Pod Force One” by The New York Post.
With Trump who called Powell to lower the interest in recent months and suggested that he could fire the chairman of the Federal Reserve, Kudlow offered his prediction to what could happen.
“It comes down to: President Trump is going to take over the Fed as he should.”
The period of Powell ends in May 2026.
Trump has since declined the threat to fire Powell and Kudlow does not think that this “big move” is needed. Kudlow believes that after Powell leaves, Trump takes over the FED and must carry out an assessment.
“You have a top-to-bottom evaluation of the FED needed-all-monetary policy, regulatory policy, personnel policy, personnel policy, economic models policy.
Kudlow said that people should not stand in the way of the president, including judges, the Federal Trade Commission and the Federal Reserve. “He is the Chief Executive and the supreme commander – he is chosen by the people.”

Hassett and Warssh are in second place and third on 25% and 18% respectively in the forecast market opportunities Kalshi. Christopher Waller the leader is about to 31%.
The name of Kudlow emerged in the conversation for the role last year after the meeting with Trump in Mar-A-Lago. The current Fox Business analyst remains a narrow ally of the president.
Fox News said Kudlow has no plans to leave.
“Larry Kudlow recently signed a new deal to continue to organize his program of the same name for FOX Business and has no plans to let his current role and one of the highest rated shows on the network,” a Fox spokesperson told Benzinga earlier.
