US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin today spoke on the phone in their sixth publicly announced chat since the first returned to the White House, the Kremlin announced.

They spoke about the constant conflict in Iran and Israel, while Putin emphasized the need to resolve all issues on political and diplomatic resources, according to his YURI Ushakov of Foreign Affairs. The US reached three locations in Iran on 22 June, in what Trump mentioned a “very successful” operation aimed at destroying the nuclear program of Tehran.

About the conflict in Ukraine, Ushakov said that Trump spoke about his need for a quick stopping of the fighting, while Putin expressed the willingness of Moscow to tackle conversations with Kiev. At the same time, the Russian leader gave Trump a hair -raising warning.

He said that Moscow will try to achieve his goals in Ukraine and remove the “main causes” of the conflict. Putin has argued that he sent troops to Ukraine in February 2022 to ward off a threat to Russia that is set by the push of Ukraine to join NATO and to protect Russian speakers in Ukraine – rejected arguments by KYIV and his allies.

He insisted that every potential peace agreement Ukraine must see her NATO offer give up and recognize the territorial benefits of Russia. Thursday’s call follows the confirmation of the Pentagon that it pauses from some weapons to Ukraine while the American military stocks rates.

The weapons that are stopped for Ukraine include air defense missiles, precision -based artillery and other equipment. The details about the weapons in some of the paused deliveries were confirmed by an American official and former national security officer who is familiar with the case.

They both asked anonymity to discuss what is being stopped because the Pentagon still has to provide details. Ushakov said that a suspension of some American arms shipments to Ukraine was not discussed in the Trump-Putin call.

The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zenskyy said in Denmark after a meeting with Great European Unionbackers that he can talk to Trump in the coming days about the suspension of American weapons.

“I hope that maybe tomorrow, or close days, I will speak with President Trump nowadays,” he said.

When asked about his expectations of the Trump-Putin call, he said that “I am not sure if they have many common ideas, common topics to talk (over) because they are very different people.”

The previous publicly known call between Trump and Putin came on June 14, a day after Israel Iran attacked.

The resumed contacts between Trump and Putin seemed to reflect the interest of both leaders to restore the American Russian ties that have fallen to their lowest point since the Cold War, in the midst of the conflict in Ukraine.

On Tuesday, Putin and French President Emmanuel Macron held their first direct telephone conversation in almost three years.
