President Donald Trump said that the US Army hit three sites in Iran and immediately participated in Israel’s efforts to behead the nuclear program of the country in a risky gamble to weaken an old enemy in the midst of Tehran’s threat of reprisals that could cause a greater regional conflict.
The decision to involve the US directly comes after more than a week of Israel’s strikes on Iran who have moved to systematically eradicate the air defenses of the country and the attacking rocket options, while the nuclear enrichment facilities are damaged.
But the American and Israeli officials have said that American stealth bombers and a bomb of 30,000 pounds bunker that they can only bear offered the best chance of destroying heavily despised locations connected to the Iranian nuclear program deeply buried underground.
“We have our very successful attack on the three nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz and Esfahan, completed,” Trump said in a post on social media on Saturday. “All aircraft are now outside the air space of Iran. A complete load of bombs has been dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All planes are safely on their way home.”
Trump said that B-2 stealth bombers were used, but did not specify which types of bombs were dropped. The White House and the Pentagon did not immediately withdraw the operation.
The strikes are a dangerous decision for the US, because Iran has promised to take revenge if it has joined the Israeli attack, and for Trump personally, after he won the White House on the promise to keep America out of precious foreign conflicts and to spot with the value of the American intervention.
Trump told reporters on Friday that he was not interested in sending land troops to Iran. He had previously indicated that he would make a final choice over the course of two weeks, a timeline that seemed to set up as the situation quickly evolved.
Iran warns of a complete war
The supreme leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, warned on Wednesday that the United States will focus on the Islamic Republic “will lead to irreparable damage for them”.
And spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Esmail Baghaei stated: “Every American intervention would be a recipe for a total war in the region.” Trump has sworn that he would not allow Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon and he had initially hoped that the threat of violence would bring the leaders of the country to give his nuclear program peacefully.
The army of Israel said on Saturday that it was preparing for the possibility of a long war, while the Iran’s Foreign Minister warned before the American attack that the American military involvement “would be very dangerous for everyone”.
The prospect of a broader war threatened too. The Houthi rebels in Yemen, supported by Iranian, said they would resume attacks on American ships in the Red Sea if the Trump government joins the Israel military campaign. The Houthis paused such attacks in May under a deal with the US.
The American ambassador in Israel announced that the US had started ‘accompanied departure flights’, the first from Israel since the attack led by Hamas on 7 October 2023, which led the war in Gaza.
But Trump seems to have made the calculation – when poking Israeli officials and many Republican legislators – that the operation of Israel had the land and had offered an unparalleled opportunity to perhaps permanently restore Iran’s nuclear program.
The Israelis say that their offensive has already paralyzed Iran’s air defense, so that they can already considerably deteriorate several Iranian nuclear locations.
But to destroy the Fordo enrichment installation of nuclear fuel, Israel has appealed to Trump for American bunker-bombs, the 30,000 pounds GBU-57 solid ordnance penetrator, who uses his weight and pure kinetic power to achieve deeply buried goals and then explodes.
The penetrator is currently only supplied by the B-2 Stealth Bomber, which is only found in the American Arsenal.
The bomb has a conventional core head and is assumed that it is able to penetrate about 200 feet (61 meters) under the surface before he explodes, and the bombs can be fallen after the other, effectively deeper and deeper drilling with every successive explosion.
The International Atomic Energy Agency has confirmed that Iran produces a highly enriched uranium at Fordo, which caused the possibility that nuclear material could be released in the area if the GBU-57 a/b was used to hit the facility.
Earlier Israeli strikes on another Iranian nuclear site, Natanz, on a centrifuge site only caused contamination on the site itself, not in the surrounding area, the IAEA said.
Trump’s decision for direct US military intervention comes after his administration had made a failed push of two months, also with a high level, direct negotiations with the Iranians-oriented on convincing Tehran to curb his nuclear program.
Trump leaves diplomacy after failed conversations
For months, Trump said he was dedicated to a diplomatic pressure to convince Iran to give up his nuclear ambitions. And he – in April and again at the end of May – convinced Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to keep military action against Iran and to give more time diplomacy.
The US in recent days have changed military aircraft and warships to and around the center -East to protect Israel and American bases against Iranian attacks.
All the while, Trump has been publicly pronounced that the moment can be a “second chance” for Iran to close a deal to giving explicit threats about Khamei and calls for the unconditional surrender of Tehran.
“We know exactly where the so -called Supreme Leader” hides, “Trump said in a placement on social media. “He is an easy target, but is safe there – we are not going to take it out (kill!), At least not for now.” The military confrontation with Iran comes seven years after Trump withdrew the US from the Obama administration-light agreement in 2018 and called it the “worst deal ever”.
The Deal 2015, signed by Iran, the US and other world powers, created an extensive nuclear agreement in the long term that limited the enrichment of Tehran uranium in exchange for the elimination of economic sanctions.
Trump has decided the deal from the Obama era to give Iran too much in exchange for too little, because the agreement did not cover the non-nuclear malignant behavior of Iran.
Trump has received criticism from some of his Maga believers, including conservative expert Tucker Carlson, who has suggested that further involvement of the US would be a betrayal for supporters who were attracted to his promise to end us to end our involvement in expensive and endless wars.
