Happy New Year and Hello 2026!
Hopefully you had a nice Christmas and New Year’s weekend. I’m still in a holiday mood here because we have a little more free time, but something for me I find trend scouting just as exciting and fun for every new year or new season. It probably has to do with my history and interest in vintage, most trends and silhouettes etc. can always be found back in time. Trends move a lot faster these days, but I read in the Pinterest trend report that more and more people are choosing to just jump on the trends that suit them. Feels sensible. Personally, I find trends as a phenomenon exciting and that you really don’t have to buy new things to be trendy. First you can look at your own wardrobe, with little money you can always make adjustments and small details are usually the most fun to change in your style. Personal style before trend I think this one should always be at the top of all trend lists.
I scrolled around on TikTok and Pinterest and put together a list of favorites among all trend scouts for 2026:
- Top of everything
- Leaflets
- Art deco vibes on jewelry and interior design
- Bambi print is predicted to be big, but I believe more in zebra and tiger print
- Light blue or a hint of blue
- ’80s shoulders and cinched waists on blazers
- Classic hairpin to throw up the back of a fake pig
- Weird or funny makeup details
- Vintage circus meets Pippi Longstocking in stripes and polka dots
- Asymmetrical both in different motifs or colors on the nails and in the styling with a scarf over the jacket
- Opera aesthetics like super long coats
- Cape & ponchos
- Butterfly eyes
- The pillbox hat and other funny headgear have remained
- Fringes on scarves and trousers
- Real core as handicraft
What do you think of the list? Fill in if witch missed something.
I’ve seen the lace-up boots in a lot of collages, so I’m really excited about all things lace for spring, but as I wrote a few posts ago, a shorter cape is now on my vintage wish list.
