Grove city, oh – Travel nurse will compete for a second consecutive Buckeye Stallion Series championship when MGM Northfield Park organizes four $ 75,000 divisions of Trotters in the Finals of 2025 BSS on Saturday (4 October).
The BSS FILLY Trot champion as a 2-year-old in 2024 travel nurse (Luke Hanners) scored one victory and two second place in the series this year, which was good for 103 points and sixth place in the rankings. Trained by Virgil Morgan Jr., the Enterprise Filly has two wins, three seconds and two -thirds in 15 starts this year. She departs from Post Five. Her top competitors are Sweet Rose ‘(Chris Lems), UP (Aaron Merriman) and Pretty Lil Penny (Trevor Smith), who this year ended as the top three in the second Filly Trot classification with 154, 130 and 125 points respectively. Sweet Rose ‘and Pretty Lil Penny were both two -time winners in the series in 2025. Trained by Matthew Burkholder, Sweet Rose’ has hit the board in eight of 10 seasonal start with four wins. The Marseille Merrieveeulen departs from post seven next to Pretty Lil Penny in the far outside the field with eight horses. Pretty Little Penny has won four times in 11 seasonal starts and is trained by Jeremy Miller. Up, who placed a victory and three second place in the BSS, is trained by Burkholder. The Uncle Peter Filly has three victories, four seconds, and a third in 13 seasonal starts and departs from post six. Volstarita (Justin Irvine), a double BSS winner this year, is also in the field.
Judy’s Moni (Anthony Macdonald) heads first-year Filly Protis division as a triple winner in the BSS this season. The trainee of Jason McGinnis is on top of the rankings with 180 points and departs from post four. A Ready for Moni Filly, Judy’s Moni placed a lifelong-best 1: 57.2 in the opening leg and hit the board in five of the six starts on the year. Winners of two legs Readi Two (Sandy Beatty) and Hangighthony L (Hank Levan) are the same for the second in the rankings with 154 points and will leave from the rail and far outside respectively. Trained by Christi Noble, the Tom Tom Ruin has seven victories in 20 seasonal starts and departs from the rail next to Shoot Some Hoop (Chris Page) in post two.
