Tax benefits for landlords with several houses can soon be deleted under explosive new reforms supported by the trade unions of Australia.

The daring reform would see a clearance of tax benefits for real estate investors who have more than one house.

Actu Secretary, Sally McManus, said: “Working people can no longer afford to live in the neighborhood where they work and young people are locked up from the housing market and locked up in high rents.”

“It’s just not good and has to change,” she warned. “Tax rules on investment houses means investments that can be made to make Australia more productive and grow our economy are locked up in housing.”

“We cannot continue with the same path to give investors tax supports while possessing your own house further out of reach of average employees and becoming almost unimaginable for young people.”
