Top Aussie Harness Racing Trainer Jess Tubbs is looking forward to unexpected early return to New -Zeeland.
It will be an emotional return for Tubbs, who will do it alone this year, instead of sharing the load with her husband Greg Sugars, who died tragically in his sleep in April.
Together they had one of their biggest sensation in the game when former champion Trotter simply believed that the Group 1 won in Addington in November.
They campaigned for the former Auckland Cup winner Better Eclipse and then three-year-old Hes from heaven in NZ at the same time.
HES from heaven finished fifth in the inaugural $ 500,000 Velocity Slot Race in Addington on November 15.
“I didn’t think I would go back so quickly, but Tracy de Jet came along and changed it all,” Tubbs said.
Tracy the Jet (Love you) is a three -year Draft Merrieveeulen with 10 Starts five wins and a second. She will be a starter in the Majestic Horsefloats Ascent on Addington Raceway on Show Day, November 14 together with colleague Aussie Trotter Gatesys gem.
The $ 500,000 final race has put on a capacity of 10 lock holders, just like the Pacing equivalent the speed.
Tracy The Jet won her first two starts of 2025 for a great second for Gatesys gem in the Oaks of Group 1 NSW Trotters in Menangle on 10 May.
Since then she has all won the start at Melton, including victories in the Holmfield (August 16) and the $ 125,000 Nutrien -Sales Final last Saturday.
She went to a new level and contains deadly early gate speed.
“(Owner) Dom (Martello) wanted to tackle NZ and bought a lock in the climb for her to run inside, so that’s the target,” Tubbs said.
“Races like these don’t come too often, so we have to have a chance.”
It means sacrificing a tilt at Tracy The Jet’s another obvious large Aussie -purpose, the Vicbred series at Melton.
“The vicbrede heat is on the same day as the climb, so it’s out,” Tubbs said. “The Vicbred -final is only worth $ 60,000, so it’s worth changing course.”
Gatingys gem, who defeated Tracy de Jet in the NSW Oaks and then the boys in the derby of the Group 1 Trotters, is in the climb by Aussie Die Gigantic Duncan McPherson of Aldebaran Park and Yabby Dams’ Pat Drisoll Drep.
Gatesys Gem has not raced since that win of 17 May in the NSW Derby. She has eight victories and three seconds from just 12 starts.
The daughter of Aldebaran Eagle looked sharp last Monday evening to win a Geelong test and defeated other High-Class Three-year-old Watts on the Heuvel and Commodus.
Tracy The Jet and Gatesys gem have large hoof prints to follow after the Freakish Victorian Keyang Zahara beat her kiwi rivals in last year’s inaugural climb.
