The fifth generation Toyota Hiace van with the chassis code H200 has been on the market for more than 20 years and is still sold in Japan and many other markets, even though the sixth generation model, the Hiace H300, already appeared on the market in 2019. For the latest update, the Hiace H200 JDM gets new, more modern bi-LED headlights. The bumper and grille still look the same, but the fog lights have been replaced by smaller LED units and have been given a housing that looks identical to the fog lights from the Hilux pick-up. Other external details still look the same.
On the inside, this H200 JDM received several levels of upgrades in terms of details, starting with an infotainment unit with a new 8-inch touchscreen supported by Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 360-degree camera, a fully digital instrument display with a 7-inch screen, a new air conditioning control panel, a new steering wheel, two USB-C ports and new front seats with heating function.
The H200 JDM has already received the Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) from the updated 2020 version. For this 2026 model, the TSS system has been improved to work better, including the addition of automatic emergency braking that can now also detect pedestrians, cyclists and motorcycles, collision detection at intersections, cruise control both adaptive and traffic sign recognition.
As usual, the Hiace H200 is offered in Japan in three body styles, namely the standard body, the Wagon body with a higher roof and the wider Commuter body. There has been no change to the powertrain offering and three engine options remain available, namely the 2.8 liter 1GD-FTV turbo diesel, the 2.7 liter 2TR-FE Dual VVT-i petrol and the 2.0 liter 1TR-FE petrol.
The engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, with a choice of rear-wheel drive or 4WD system. This updated model will go on sale in the Japanese market from February 2, 2026.
