The Game of Golf is full of bizarre rules situations and on the Sanderson Farms Championship on Saturday, viewers saw a rare statement play in real time.
On the Par-4 15th Hole in the Jackson Country Club, Tournament Kansebbers Garrick Higgo and Eric Cole found their journeys to the front right Greenside Bunker. When they arrived to hit their second shots, they found their balls nestled together in the sand. What do you do in that situation? Even the players needed an extensive direction of the official online rules.
According to the information passed on on the broadcast, Higgo was the first to play the Tee. His ball left a trail in the bunker before he came to rest. Cole then hit his Tee shot to the same place, and Cole’s ball followed Higgo’s number and pushed Higgo’s ball into a more buried lie before he sat down.
The ruler of rules directed Higgo to play first, so Cole was able to mark his ball with a T-shirt and then move a club length aside, so that the T-shirt would not interfere with Higgo’s shot.
Because Higgo’s ball was moved by Cole’s Scot, once Cole marked, Higgo replaced his ball as almost as possible where his ball originally ended – essentially in the position where Cole’s ball came to rest. As soon as Higgo played his shot, the bunker could be harmed, Cole’s ball could be replaced and he could play his second shot. No fine was assessed for both players.
‘I had the opposite [the bunker situation on 15] In the past, “Higgo said after his round.” At Sea Island a few years ago I played with Brian Gay on 18, he hit it in the Greenside bunker, and I hit him in his pitch after him, what the opposite is, and I had to play it because it was already before I hit. This one, I hit first, so apparently I was entitled to the lie that I had. ‘
Garrick Higgo sinks 5-foot Birdie Putt on No. 15 at Sanderson Farms
For Higgo, the pronunciation caused zero disruption of his game. He hit the bunker shot up to five feet and then left the putt for Birdie. Cole followed with his own bunker shot up to 12 feet, but missed the Birdie Putt to settle for a par. Higgo is currently leading the tournament with two shots on the way to the final round.
