Tottenham are currently showing serious interest in Borussia Dortmund’s Felix Nmecha, based on the last transfer reports circulating in January 2026.

Multiple sources (including German media such as BILD and Sky Germany, plus English sites such as CaughtOffside, TEAMtalk and others) link Spurs to the 25-year-old German international midfielder.

Tottenham are reportedly planning a strong push, with some even calling it a ‘transfer attack’ or positioning them as frontrunners or leaders in the race for him, possibly in the current January window or summer.

Key details from the buzz: Dortmund values him highly: around 60 million euros or more, with no release clause in his contract (which runs until 2028).

They are reluctant to sell and are planning talks for a new deal to keep him in the long term. He has also attracted the attention of other Premier League clubs: Manchester United are closely linked (some reports say they are also monitoring him, possibly even more aggressively in some corners), and Chelsea are now monitoring him/joining the interest race.

Nmecha’s profile fits what Spurs need in midfield – versatile, box-to-box energy, technical ability, and he has performed solidly for Dortmund in the Bundesliga and Champions League. Spurs have reportedly scouted him closely during recent matches (such as the CL match against Dortmund?).

Nmecha would bring some key qualities to Spurs’ midfield, which would fit well into Thomas Frank’s setup, which values versatility, energy and box-to-box threat.

Strengths and additions he could offer:

Physicality and dynamics — At 190 cm tall, he is strong in duels, has good ground coverage and has “excellent physicality” (as teammate Julian Brandt described him: “He has eight legs… always manages to get to the ball”). This would provide more balance and help Spurs dominate midfield battles, especially against the more physical Premier League sides.

Energy from box to box — He is dynamic and has good stamina to contribute both defensively and offensively. He intelligently positions himself to provide cover, freeing up more attacking midfielders.

Goal threat from midfield — Nmecha has a powerful shot and contributes with goals/assists. In the current 2025/26 Bundesliga season, he scored two goals (of ~1.06 xG) and provided three assists in a limited number of minutes, showing that he can get into the penalty area late or shoot from distance – something Spurs could use to score more in midfield than the likes of Maddison or Bentancur.

Versatility — He is primarily a central midfielder, but can play as a number 8, with a deeper pivot or even wider in some formations. This flexibility would give Spurs options amid injuries or rotation needs in a busy schedule.

Familiarity with the Premier League — The English-born (raised in Hamburg but with youth experience at Man City), he has adapted to intensive football and has hinted at his interest in returning to England.

It’s still in the rumor/speculation phase – no done deals or official bids have been confirmed yet – but links have increased noticeably in recent days, with Tottenham often mentioned as a leading suitor.
