Tottenham looks late to sign Maghnes Akliouche

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in completing a late deal to sign AS Monaco star Maghnes Akliouche. TEAMtalk.

The Lilywhites currently have very few attacking options with Dejan Kulusevski and Mohammed Kudus sidelined due to their respective injuries. Moreover, earlier this month they decided to sell Brennan Johnson to Crystal Palace.

Remember new hair

Thomas Frank currently has Wilson Odobert as the only wide forward specialist. Mathys Tel, Richarlison, Randal Kolo Muani and Xavi Simons can provide cover on the flanks.

Although the Brazilian was injured, Tel found it difficult to play regularly this season. On the other hand, Kolo Muani joined on loan last summer and has been linked with a move away at this time.

Therefore, TEAMtalk claim Tottenham are interested in strengthening their attacking department and initially identified Antoine Semenyo, Savinho, Yan Diomande and Kevin Schade as serious targets.

However, although Semenyo has decided to join Manchester City, it seems highly unlikely that Spurs will be able to sign Savinho, Diomande or Kevin Schade before next week’s transfer deadline.

That’s why Tottenham have shifted their focus to alternative options and identified Akliouche as their primary option. They have been closely monitoring his development in recent months and could make a potential splash late in this window.

Akliouche is Tottenham

Monaco does not want to part with the Frenchman, as his existing contract runs until 2028. However, the Ligue 1 side could change their position if they receive a bid of around £50 million.

Akliouche is naturally a left-footed, technically gifted right attacker, but is also comfortable in the creative midfield position. In 27 appearances in all competitions he has scored eight goals so far this season.

The 23-year-old is a very talented player and is not done yet. So he could be a smart signing for Tottenham if they buy him.

However, it will be interesting to see whether the north London club will ultimately make a concrete move to secure the Monaco star’s services before the February 2 transfer deadline.
