Continue with JPJ registration data of the month of August, we have the top 20 electric vehicle brands, so that BYD continues to lead the segment. This time, however, the Chinese EV specialist broadened his lead on the second proton placed, which means that last month after May are the second best in terms of sale.
A total of 1,119 BYDs found houses in August, 353 units more than Proton and his only EV, the EMAS 7 (766 units). The whole of that gap can be explained by the new Atto 2, which registered 403 registrations in the first full month of sale.
These strong achievements have pushed BYD’s year-to-date sales figure on 7,389 units-what means that it is well on its way to 10,000 turnover in 2025 while the YTD of Proton is on just 5,455 units (-1,934 units). The completion of the podium places is a revival of Tesla with 509 registered units, which consolidates its handle in third place with 3,162 units sold YTD.

Mercedes-Benz is surprising in fourth place. Stuttgart has won the mid-table with double digits throughout the year, and registered his best month with 261 EVs, probably as a result of the continuous MyRecedesrewards campaign. This has almost doubled its YTD EV sales to 527 units, so that it has five places in the rankings.
Prior to the in the general table, BMW and XPeng, which were in fifth place last month with 96 registrations, which continued a surprisingly dense YTD struggle for fourth (BMW on 1,117 units, Xpeng on 842 units). In the meantime, Zeekr saw an increase in registrations to 88 units (crucial, before the sale of the new 7x starts seriously), just like Leap engine with 72 units – the last continued its strong form since the switch prices of the C10 in June.

Behind them, Denza slid to the ninth with 69 units sold, so that the YTD gorge was limited to Zeekr (787 units versus 679) in the battle for sixth. The top ten is Porsche completed with 59 registered units (467 units of YTD), with the usual reservation that these figures also include the Gray Market “Recon” registrations.
No real surprises further down, although Honda continues to climb on the ladder since he started in 19th place in the rankings last month, until 15th climbing with 32 registered vehicles (31 of them are the only officially imported model, the E: N1).
