Former Arsenal striker Theo Walcott believes the Gunners have missed a huge opportunity to capitalize on the Premier League title race.

The Gunners played a 1-1 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, but they are said to be unhappy with their performance and the result as The Blues played the entire match with one man less for almost an hour.

Moises Caicedo was sent off for a reckless challenge on Mikel Merino and despite the numerical advantage, Mikel Arteta’s team failed to capitalize and extend their lead at the top of the Premier League.

Walcott mentioned one incident at the end of the match that caught his attention.

Viktor Gyokeres could have scored the winner against Chelsea

Late in the match, as the Gunners were attacking and they had Chelsea pinned back, a cross came into the penalty area intended for Viktor Gyokeres and had he been given the chance to hit it, the Gunners might have won the match with the Swedish international striker scoring the winner.

However, Jurrien Timber intervened and tried to score, but ultimately squandered the chance for his team and his teammate.

Walcott believes Gyokeres should act ruthlessly and criticizes the attacker for sometimes being too nice.

“This is the moment when you get desperate towards the end of a game and want to bring a lot of bodies forward.” Walcott told Sky Sports, as reported by Subway.

‘You always have the feeling that when a right-back is in this position, if I were here Gyokeres I would ask questions and say: look, this is my space, this is why I am on the pitch.

“But look, he’s been doing it all season, but he would be disappointed. No doubt Gyokeres would have shouted it, but it just annoys me when players are out of position, but I understand why Arsenal committed so many bodies.

“Gyokeres is too nice sometimes, I think.”

Arteta is said to feel his team has missed a golden opportunity to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League.

After Chelsea were down to ten men, the Gunners were expected to attack more and take advantage of opportunities.

Yet a draw is still not disastrous for them. They have had a demanding week, beating Tottenham in the league and Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
