Tom Aspinall is getting the latest criticism from another former UFC champion

Former UFC champion Sean Strickland has criticized current UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall over his eye injury.

As has been extensively discussed, Tom Aspinall is currently out of action due to a double eye poke he suffered from Ciryl Gane at UFC 321. Although it was Gane who committed the offense, many critics decided to go after Aspinall for not being able to continue, suggesting he should have just fought through it instead. Of course, he couldn’t see, and he will now need surgery, meaning that making such a decision would have been absolutely insane.

Fighters and fans alike are divided over Tom Aspinall and how they view both the injury and the aftermath. The Englishman has been left quite upset by some of the comments, especially those from UFC boss Dana White, although it appears the two are on their way to a resolution – or at least we hope they are for the sake of Tom’s future in the promotion.

In a recent conversation with Adin Ross, Sean Strickland became the latest fighter to take on Tom Aspinall in this debate.

Sean Strickland goes after Tom Aspinall

“Aspinall sucks, dude,” he told Adin Ross, who responded by asking if the eye injury was legitimate.

Strickland added: “No, he took the way out, 100 percent.

“You should have seen it when I fought Nassourdine [Imavov]. My eye was [messed up]. I looked like I was 28 days later.

Looking ahead to the future, it’s unclear when Aspinall will be able to return. If he undergoes surgery, he will rest and eventually be able to return to the ring (we hope) to face Ciryl Gane again in what should be a blockbuster rematch. Fingers crossed.
