The man who nicknamed Pete Alonso Polar Bear is feeling icy.
Former Mets third baseman Todd Frazier has ripped his old team for parting ways with three of their longest-lasting stars in recent weeks.
This week, the Mets saw Alonso, their longtime slugger, sign a five-year pact with the Orioles, and superstar closer Edwin Diaz joined the back-to-back World Series champion Dodgers.
New York also traded favorite outfielder Brandon Nimmo from the Rangers for Marcus Semien in November.
“I’m confused, you sign Juan Soto to a monster deal, but that should have been your top priority to get these guys back,” Frazier said. Thursday about ‘Foul Territory’.
Other than signing former Yankees Devin Williams to a three-year deal, the Mets haven’t made any major moves and need to plug several holes to offset the high-profile departure.
“There aren’t that many players who have the ability of what Pete Alonso can do in a baseball game,” Frazier said. “Edwin Diaz is one of the best closers we’ve seen in our generation. Brandon Nimmo is as solid as they come.
“Those are three guys that any team would want to take on in a heartbeat.”
After the Mets’ collapse in 2025, when the team failed to make the playoffs, president of baseball operations David Stearns firmly stated that “bringing back the exact same group was not the right thing to do.”
In the wake of Alonso and Diaz’s departures, owner Steve Cohen told The Post’s Jon Heyman in a text message, “There’s still a lot of offseason to put a team on the field.”
However, Frazier challenged the logic of breaking up the core for one disappointing season.
“Okay, now that you’re not quite there, what are you going to do now?” Frazier asked. “What’s next for the Mets? There aren’t that many.
“Guess what, those guys have to say, ‘You know what, I’m coming over there.’ But who would want to go there knowing what they’re doing?”
