Wordle is a daily word puzzle game where your goal is to guess a hidden five-letter word in six tries or less. After each guess, the game provides feedback to help you get closer to the answer:
- Vegetable: The letter is in the word and in the right place.
- Yellow: The letter is in the word, but in the wrong place.
- Gray: The letter is not in the word at all.
Use these clues to refine your guesses. Every day brings a new word, and everyone around the world is trying to solve the same puzzle. Some Wordlers also play Competitive Wordle against friends, family, the Wordle Bot, or even me, your humble narrator. See the rules for Competitive Wordle at the end of this post.
Today’s Wordle Tips and Answer

- My starting word today: HOF (72 words remaining)

Wordle Bot Analysis
Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordle score with Wordle Bot here.
COURT was a solid opening bet, leaving me with a green “C” and only 72 possible solutions. Unfortunately, SPADE narrowed that down to three so I had to take a chance. There was CLASH, CLASS and CHASM to choose from, and I almost never go for the doubles, leaving CLASH and CHASM. These were better choices because they shared an “H” source. I often guess CHAIR on my second guess, but I had used the ‘R’ in COURT. I chose CHASM because it’s a cool word, and lo and behold, that was the Wordle!

Contemporary Wordle Etymology
Gap comes from the Greek khasma, meaning ‘yawning hollow’ or ‘yawning opening’, from the verb khainein (‘to gape or yawn’). It entered English through Late Latin chasma and retained the sense of a deep, open divide.
