Today’s NYT -PIPS NYT -HINTS and SOLUTIONS FOR SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 7

Another Sunday, another pips to solve. This was difficult! Today I had more problems with the medium -sized layer than I think I’ve ever had, and the difficult layer also left me for an enchantment. The easy layer was at least super easy. . . . Let’s dive into it right away!

How to play pips

In Pips you have a grid of multicolored boxes. Each colored area represents a different “condition” that you must reach. You have a select number of dominoes that you have to spend on filling in the grid. You must use any domino and reach any condition correctly to win. There are easy, medium and difficult levels.

Here is an example of difficult tier -pips:

As you can see, the schedule has a number of symbols and numbers with every color. On the far left, the three purple squares are not allowed to be equal to each other (hence the equal sign crossed). The two pink squares next to it must be the same as a total of 0. The zigzagging blue squares must all be the same. You click on Domino’s to rotate them, and that must be necessary because they have to be turned to fit where they belong.

Not shown on this grid are other conditions, such as “less than” or “bigger than”. If there are several tiles with> or

  • = All PIPs must be equal in this group.
  • ≠ All pips may not be equal in this group.
  • > The pip in this tile (or tiles) must be larger than the stated number.
  • An exact number (such as 6) The PIP must be equal to this exact number.
  • Tiles without disorders can be something.

To win, you have to use all your Domino’s by filling in all the squares and ensuring that you match each condition. Play the Pips -Puzzle of today here.

Today’s Pips solution

Below are the solutions for the easy and medium -sized tier pips. Then I will lead you through the difficult puzzle. Spoilers forward.

Simple

Medium

Difficult

Let’s do a complete Walkthrough of the difficult pips of today. It starts as follows:

As you can see, this looks like a dog. The easy thing is a stick, the medium is a frisbee or a bowl, and it is difficult a doggo. That is my opinion, anyway. But where to start?

The most obvious place is the foot foot of the dog. There is an orange 1 tile next to a blue 0 group, and that is a fairly specific condition. I placed the 1/0 Domino there and the 0/2 domino up in the purple <3 group such as SO:

At this point, however, I was good and well amazed. We have so many conditions to consider! There are two = groups on the back/tail section of the dog. The front foot is a pink> 15 group (which I looked at and thought it was a = group that ruined me at some point). We have a dark blue ≠ to consider. Impact.

I tried a few things here, and I got it pretty wrong, starting by the dog’s head and that way went down. So I have cleared the board (other than the first two tiles) and instead focused on the central area and the forefoot. I placed the 0/3 tile of purple <3 omhoog in groen = en de 0/4 tegel van Green = in donkerblauw ≠. Toen vulde ik de roze> 15 -group with the double 5/5 domino and the 5/2 domino up in dark blue ≠ like SO:

So far, so good, but we are not yet out of the weeds.

At this point I was operating on the assumption that Green = 3s had to be and I noticed that I still had a 4/4 domino. The pink = group (the tail) required a double, so I placed that there and then placed the 3/4 Domino of Groen in Pink.

I had to finish the green = group, so I placed the 3/5 Domino of Green in Dark Blue ≠ and completed that group by placing the 3/2 Domino of dark blue ≠ in orange 6. This only left the head of the dog.

The rest of the groups were total numbers, which is a reason that there was a bad idea in the first place. Too many ways to complete total number of groups. Fortunately, I only had a few dominoes left at the moment. I placed the 4/1 Domino in Orange 6 and completed that, with the 1 up in blue 2. I placed the 1/5 of Blue 2 in Purple 10 and the last Domino, a 5/2 chip, of purple 10 in the open tile. That was it!

It is possible that this is a cat, but I am more of a dog person. By the way, if a stick is easy, that is not in the mood for a cat. One of the many shortcomings of the feline species is the disinterest in playing. Of course, you can get a cat to chase a laser and that is pretty funny, and I think the easy layer can be a laser. But I go with a dog. What a good puppy!
