To visit Riva del Garda – A jewel from Lake Garda

In the northern part of the Italian Garda -Lake you will find Riva del Garda, a fantastic place surrounded by dramatic mountains and green shimmering water. Here we spent a few days during the end of our camper trip in South Europe, and here we enjoyed a promenade and a number of excursions.

Riva del Garda

Riva del Garda has an incredibly beautiful location on Lake Garda, with the High Mountains as a Foundation.

Riva del Garda is at the top of the northern part of Lake Garda, in the Trentino Sydtyrol region.

Nice promenade and beach

A beautiful promenade is running along the entire Riva del Garda, where you can walk along anchored small boats and lawns with sunbathing.

It is popular to sunbathe and swim here, but also to surf and surf. There are extremely good wind for these water sports in this part of Lake Garda.

A pleasant city on the Northern Meer Garda

The city of Riva del Garda can be described with words such as cozy or charming, or perhaps beautiful. Here are colorful houses around the square and along the water. The outside seats are wall to wall, as well as the small shops and ice bars. Here you will really be offered a holiday to sensitive!

Here is also the medieval castle Rocca di Rivawhich was originally founded in 1124 to defend the port. In the 1300s the bail was rebuilt by the Scaligeri family, with inspiration from other forts around the lake, and today it contains a museum with historical objects and regional art.

Excursion to Lago di Tenno

From Riva del Garda we made an excursion to Lake Lago di Teno. The lake is about 20 minutes north of the city and the road there offers steep winding roads, covered with a fantastic view.

We drove past camper and it went really well, although it was exciting in their places. In a narrow passage, followed by strict traffic lights, we had to fold the rear mirrors to slowly slip past the huge house walls …

Once at the front we managed to park in one of the special parking spaces, where we paid a small fee before we walked to the lake.

The colors of the water and the mountains really attract the camera. Or just to sit down for a while and lose yourself in the view …

And yes, people are sunbathing and bathing on the lake, and it is also popular to slide around on a kind of plate. There were some tourists when we here, early September, while the atmosphere was peaceful and calm.

Excursion to Limone Sul Garda

Another beautiful excursion destination, based on Riva del Garda, is the small town of Limone Sul Garda, where almost lemons – lemon ice cream, lemon lonely, lemon porcelain. Absolutely great! The easiest way is to get here through the passenger car or on a boat excursion.

Excursion to Strada della Forra

Not far from Simone Sul Garda you will find Serpentine Road Strada della Forra. In addition to this road that offers dramatic views, it played an important role in the James Bond film Kwantum Troost. If you want to experience this road, it is a slightly smaller vehicle that applies, so we have rented a passenger car!

Where can you live or stand at the camper?

We visited Del Garda almost exactly ten years ago for the first time, and then there was a super charming natural campsite/camper with direct access to the sea. This one was not there now, but a decent alternative is the reed Riva del Garda, 10 via Brione. Here you have all the service you need and within walking distance of the city, at a reasonable price. If you want to pay a little more, there are some campsites near the site, all of which have an excellent location.

More to see and in the neighborhood

The entire area around Lake Garda is fantastic. We can, among other things, recommend visits to Desenzano, Sirmione, Lazise, ​​Bardolino and Malcesine. You can also make an excursion to the Valpolicella wine area or to the Fine Park Parco Giardini Sigurtá south of the lake.
