In the past month, at least 15 non-service post graduates (NSPG)-Mindal Midwifery-Gynecologists delegated to distant government hospitals (GH) of their original place of messages such as a stopgap measure to have said about the shortage of doctors, the Tamil Nadu Resident Doctors Association.

The TNRDA issued a statement on Friday (July 18, 2025) and condemned the recent administrative step to deput NSPGS of their originally assigned GHS to other institutions under the directorate of medical and national health services (DMS). In some cases, NSPGs were delegated to institutions nearly three to four hours away from their home.

This action has caused the doctors overly stress and hardships, which already work under challenging circumstances. It is unacceptable to treat NSPG doctors if stopgap schemes for systemic administrative expired. These postgraduate residents receive no special reward, stimuli or reimbursements, even though they are placed far from their designated locations. Such a treatment is both exploiting and demoralizing, the Tnrda said in the statement.

The association also emphasized the lack of transparency in counseling. Managers could not reflect the actual manpower deficits in GHS during transfer advice or services/NSPG candidates, which led to non -planned and forced representatives.

A large number of recruitment board from Medical Services (MRB) 2025 Specialist candidates are waiting for their transfer advice under the DMS. Despite the fact that they are available and willing to serve, they are not correctly recruited or posted. Instead of taking refuge above Deputations, the government must focus on recruiting adequate medical officials and specialists on a regular basis, the association said.

The TNRDA demanded the immediate cancellation of all random deputation statements issued to NSPGs, transparent and accurate reporting of manpower needs during counseling processes and immediate placement of MRB 2025 Selected candidates waiting in the recruitment pool.
