The theme of Titleist’s 2026 golf ball launch: Enhance the primary characteristics of the balls while maintaining their authentic identity.
That applies to the entire line-up.
Read on below for everything you need to know about the 2026 versions of the popular and cheaper Velocity and Tour Soft golf balls. (To browse all Titleist golf ball models, click here.)
What’s actually new – and why should you care?
Tour softly
The new 2026 Tour Soft has been completely redesigned with a thicker elastomer cover and a new dimple pattern for higher peak height with mid irons and longer distance and lower spin with the driver.
Titleist always looks at what its players want with the next ball, and while Tour Soft players choose the ball based on its soft feel, they told the Titleist team they could use more distance off the tee and more stopping power on the greens.
Without compromising Tour Soft’s signature feel, Titleist created a new cover and made the core slightly smaller to reduce T-shirt spin.
“Our equipment team has found a unique blend of cover softeners that help us produce lower spin in long games with surprising performance in short games,” said Mike Madson, Titleist SVP of Golf Ball R&D. “When we talk about stopping power, the coverage is actually a little softer than the previous generation. So while we’re riding spin down in the long game to get more distance, we’re also getting a little more launch with the irons to increase the descent angle.
“It’s a great material that allows us to fine-tune performance, and it’s built on the backbone of our manufacturing process.”
That higher launch is aided by a new 386 quadrilateral dippyramid dimple pattern that is more consistent than the previous generation, leading to more optimal flight.
Who is it for: Golfers on a budget looking for the best combination of feel and distance with higher peak heights.
Speed
Titleist’s Velocity golf ball unlocked more distance by softening the core of the ball to reduce spin and lower ball flight.
To minimize the effect on ball speed of the softer core, the Inomer cover was reformulated to be firmer and drop spin further off the tee.
“Anytime you drop the compression, all things being equal, that will reduce spin in the long game,” Madson said. “We’ve combined that with a slightly firmer ionomer cover to increase speed and reduce spin in the long game even further. So you get a double shot of lower spin off the tee, along with faster cover, all of which contributes to more distance.”
To give Velocity players a distance boost, Velocity features a new 350 octahedral dimple design to lower ball flight and optimize overall distance.
Who is it for: Players with a slower swing who are looking for maximum speed and distance.
